On the second Tuesday of the month, the East Euclid Hy-Vee hosts a breakfast networking group in conjunction with the East South Des Moines Chamber. FREE breakfast, FREE coffee and FREE networking since you don’t need to be a member of the chamber to attend.

At each meeting, the organizers invite a member of the group to present some sort of program and a non-profit to talk about their business. This month’s presentation was about the Historic East Village Holiday Promenade and the Historic East Village’s rebrand.

Ever since I married my husband, his luck for winning has rubbed off on me. Above is a pint glass I won in the raffle. Pretty slick.

When the presenters announced the “rebrand”, they said “Historic East Village – East of Ordinary” and didn’t get much further than that. and then I won my pint glass.

I look forward to seeing how this “rebrand” develops over time. I couldn’t find any information on their website with this announcement, but I did notice the logo change.

Has anyone noticed a “change” going on in the Historic East Village that would indicate a rebranding effort?

TEDxDesMoines

I was one of approximately 300 attendees of the third TEDxDesMoines held at the Science Center of Iowa.

Here’s a description of this all-day event:

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

Where do I Network?

I get asked this question a lot. Below are a few of my favorite hot spots:

Women Who Wine DSM – “WWW DSM is a group of interesting and intelligent women in the Des moines and surrounding areas looking to relax, make new friends, recruit volunteers, grow their professional network, and so much more. And of course, enjoy great wine!” This monthly event is held at various locations around the Des Moines Metro Area. $20 includes two glasses of wine and appetizers. Join their Meetup Group to be notified of events.

Salsa Des Moines

by "Get it Done Girl" on November 19, 2014 · 0 comments

in Des Moines

A couple of weeks ago, I watched a video of one of my Facebook friends dance salsa in a club. My jaw hit the floor. One, she’s amazing. Two, I wanted to be her!

I asked her how I could become her and she said Salsa Des Moines. I immediately went to their website and saw that they had a beginners level class starting soon, so I registered my husband and I!

What’s great is that the classes come in four-week blocks, so you’re not committed to a long period of a time. Perhaps you want to take Beginner 1 and then take a break before you do Beginner II. And the classes are quite affordable. $35 per person per four-week per person.
